Inside Arcus with Tom Petznick – Cleaning and Soft Services

When it comes to cleaning, we understand that each of our customers have different needs. Whether this is regulatory and compliance of busy public areas, or providing a safe and hygienic office environment, our national cleaning services are bespoke to our customers’ and their estates. 

Our specialist teams utilise a combination of innovative equipment, lean techniques, and industry-leading technology. Helping to lead our teams is Tom Petznick, a Senior Operations Manager, who provides our customers with a point of contact and a visual presence within their estates. Hi, I’m Tom and I’m a Senior Operations Manager here at Arcus. I oversee the cleaning contract for one of our national retail customers in 62 sites across Northwest England and Wales.

Our UK-wide cleaning teams are all BICSc (British Institute of Cleaning Science) trained and provide our customers with a clean, safe, and hygienic working environment 365 days a year.

Leading my team of three area managers and three area support managers, I offer training, coaching and development to on-site managers whilst taking full accountability for budgets, health and safety and impeccable service standards.

Arcus operates an ISO 14001:2015 certified environmental management system and ensures that our colleagues understand how they impact our planet and are equipped with the information and resources required to protect our planet beyond the legal minimum.

Some of our Area Support Managers have recently been equipped with electric vans and all 3 of my operation managers drive electric hybrid vehicles with low emissions.

From car parks to warehouses, shop floors, eateries, office spaces to other high-footfall areas, our teams offer exceptional cleaning standards to our customers; with specialist cleaning available as and when necessary. We are responsible for ensuring all sites are ready to open for trade and comply with internal and external policies and Health and Safety Regulations.

Working in a public environment and all its challenges, our teams react daily to ever-changing conditions and demands, completing the specifications efficiently and safely to deliver the best of service standards.

In 2020, our expert cleaning teams supported our customers and key workers around the clock through the Covid-19 pandemic, delivering over three million cleaning hours across the nation, covering 9.6bn f2.

Our teams thrive under pressure and love the challenge of working to tight timescales and still delivering exceptional standards.

At Arcus, we have robust risk assessment processes where all scopes of work, activities and environments are considered to ensure hazards are identified, and assessed and that a hierarchy of controls is applied.

Myself, my team, and all Arcus colleagues are empowered to report and action hazard spots or raise for further support if needed.

With over 15 years of experience leading teams in fast paced, high footfall environments, it’s the people I work with that make this such a rewarding place to work.
