From start-up to today, Arcus has been Technology Led, People Driven and over the last decade, our focus on our people hasn’t wavered. However, with growth comes opportunities to do better by our colleagues and that starts with reflection.
Helping to bolster our efforts in providing a more inclusive workplace is Theresa Bell, our Chief Commercial Officer and Interim CEO of Trios. Theresa has a passion for equality, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI) in the workplace and has championed this throughout her career. As the executive sponsor for our EDI strategy, Theresa explains why she feels this area is vital for our ongoing success…
Over the last few years, Arcus has enjoyed sustained growth. This is largely thanks to the focus we have on our people and the industry-leading training and development that ensures our customers receive an outstanding FM service.
We pride ourselves on cross-skilling our colleagues to do more and creating pathways for progression. However, we recently took a moment to reflect and look further into the ways we could be supporting our colleagues and safeguarding this business and our sector for the next generation.
One of the reasons that I am so proud to work at Arcus is that we’re constantly looking to better ourselves. And whilst we have a great people offering, we know there’s much more we can do as a business, and as an industry, to drive forward diversity in the workplace, which is invaluable.
As the executive sponsor of our EDI strategy, I’m a firm believer that a business is stronger, decisions are better and customer experience is enhanced with the greater range of diverse views and backgrounds you have within a company. Having a meaningful EDI strategy that drives activity and changes across Arcus is vital for our future success – and ensures that all of our colleagues can be their authentic selves and deliver their best work in an environment in which they feel comfortable and supported.
It is a passion of mine to support other women in a largely male-dominated industry and I am particularly excited to be working on the launch of our ‘Women in Arcus FM’ networking group where we will look into the barriers women face within the FM industry, career development and offer guidance, training and support to ensure we develop meaningful career pathways and opportunities for growth.
And that’s just the beginning. Equality, diversity, and inclusion are huge areas, with so much scope for improvement. It’s a topic that I’ve championed across my career and I’m excited to get involved to deliver an even better proposition at Arcus.
